Excel Saga: "The funniest piece of crap ever produced"- some guy i threatened to feed to lions if he didn't read the script i gave him ^_^

Excel Saga. The exploits of secret agent Excel Excel, who works for the secret revolutionary force known as ACROSS, intent on liberating the city of F from the dictatorial tyranny of an electoral system. This Anime is pretty unique in that the main character, Excel, manages to die roughly 5 seconds in to the first episode. Very heroic. Of course, spanning approximately 8 DVD's, that would make for pretty poor value for money if that were the end of it. No.. The Universe, knowing that it exists as the anime series Excel Saga, and therefore would not exist anymore if there was no Excel, decides to grant a special exception to the laws of life and death, and resurects Excel. Excel dies several more times in pretty much every episode >.<

Now, with this as the backdrop, consider- Excel is a complete and utter idiot who blindly serves Lord Il Palazzo (leader of ACROSS) because she loves him. Not that she impresses him too much- a ditzy blonde airhead who never stops talking and manages to die at a very consistant rate doesnt seem to be his type. Odd, yes, but it seems thats the case. She loves him so much, in fact, that when told to shes stupid enough to kill the writer of Excel Saga, which as you can imagine, results in a pretty abrupt end of Excel Saga. She does this twice >.< He, being a very bored, disinterested person (except when it comes to anti-electoral ideologicalspeeches on what true happiness should be... very poor philosophy and political theories etc) amuses himself by degrading her (EG giving her lower ranks than inanimate objects). He spends the rest of his time sitting alone, in the dark, occasionally playing on dating sim RPGs. (which he really sucks at :P)

Then you have Menchi, the adorable little puppy dog, which in addition to managing to have beethoven start playing at appropriate moments for no apparant reason, and understanding what people say despite Excel telling Menchi he can't, is Excel's emergency food supply. Working for a ideological organisation that doesnt believe in money she doesnt actually get paid, so tends to kinda be on the verge of starving to death most of the time.

In addition, theres a race of extraordinarily cute aliens, originally coming to earth to conquer us all, were stranded after Excel accidentally blew up their entire fleet, and a whole array of other insane characters such as Space Butler, Hyatt (the princess who emanates an aura of death- everything she touches dies, and she dies even more than Excel does. She ends up as Excels sidekick) , civil servants armed with laser rayguns, a machine gun toting accountant and a fuckload of insane crap that takes the piss out of anything and everything you ever considered even vaguely worth paying attention to, Excel Saga is both extremely fucked up, and laugh-out-loud funny pretty much all through. Definitely one of my favorite Animes ^_^

You know your watching Excel Saga when the thought crosses your mind that perhaps, just perhaps these "crack" detectives would do better if they were on crack.
