Chobits. A pretty good manga drawn and written by CLAMP, and produced/translated by Tokyopop, Chobits is set in a futuristic world (the same world as Angelic Layer, set just after the craze died) , where computers are given human form, and anthropomorphistic qualities. (They are programmed to act like humans, and because its easier than risking pain in real relationships, some people treat them like humans.) Chobits is about a boy called Hideki, who coming from a rural area that only has outdated technology (pretty much the same technology we have now, except its a farm O_o), has a fresh perspective on the situation that leads to him questioning things in ways no others think to, because they are so used to it all. Ultimately, Chobits is about how important the definition of humanity is- even if something isnt human, doesnt have emotions, why should you have any less empathy for it? And if it were possible to create an artifical construct that could feel real emotion... what then? A bit of angst, a lot of light humour, very good art and an interesting take on the relationships humans form, Chobits is an enjoyable read that I would highly recommend. There is also an anime of Chobits, but IMO it doesnt hold a candle to the manga.
